Denver Photographer Mini Sessions
My Denver & Boulder portrait photography mini sessions offer a condensed version of a full-length photo session. Below are some pros and cons of these types of sessions to help you decide if a mini session is right for you:
Pros
- Cost-Effective:
- Mini sessions are more affordable than full sessions, making professional photography accessible without the cost of a full session.
- Time-Saving:
- Mini sessions are shorter than full length sessions (45 minutes), making them convenient for busy schedules and clients who dread the idea of being photographed for 1-2 hours.
- Attractive for seasonal themes and occasions:
- Mini sessions can be themed around holidays or back-to-school. Note: I only offer mini sessions January through August.
- Get to know your photographer:
- Mini sessions offer you the chance to work with me and get a feel for my style. If you like the experience and end product, you can sign up for a full length photo shoot in the future.

Cons
- Limited Time:
- Less time means fewer photos and potentially less variety in poses and expressions.
- There’s also less time to establish rapport with your photographer, which may affect the comfort level you feel when working with me.
- Reduced Location Availability:
- I only offer mini sessions for clients in Denver proper or Boulder to limit my travel time.
- Limited number of images included:
- My mini session package includes four high resolution digital files. Alternately, a full session includes all of the images. That said, if you love your session and want to buy the entire package of photos, it’s an additional $300 to do so. Of course, that’s a decision you can make after you’ve seen your photos
Mini sessions may be most apt for headshots or a lean and mean family photo session. While you can technically book a mini session for other types of portraits, I find that the limitation on time is not ideal.
Ultimately, portrait photography mini sessions are a great way to be photographed by a professional photographer and come away from the shoot with a small set of images. But less location variety and customization plus significantly less time compared to a full session are among the tradeoffs the client should consider.
BTW: I call my mini sessions The Simple.
