{"id":2862,"date":"2009-11-08T09:31:59","date_gmt":"2009-11-08T16:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/?p=9790"},"modified":"2011-09-26T10:06:39","modified_gmt":"2011-09-26T16:06:39","slug":"the-wedding-of-katie-and-christian-hendrickson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/the-wedding-of-katie-and-christian-hendrickson\/","title":{"rendered":"The wedding of Katie and Christian Hendrickson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2863\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-0048.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been doing a lot of meditating on my \u201coccupation\u201d lately, and wondering how out of the 30,000+ wedding photographers out there, I differentiate myself.&nbsp; I have been photographing weddings for so long that sometimes I feel like my work starts to blend together\u2014that my images aren\u2019t unique at all, and that I\u2019m an imposter when I say that I am an \u201cartist\u201d in what I do.&nbsp; In this lull, I\u2019ve been slacking in the blogging department.&nbsp; Naturally. &nbsp; My <b style=\"color:black;background-color:#ff9999\">blog<\/b> isn\u2019t a \u201cbusiness tactic\u201d, but a place for me to express myself\u2013emotionally, artistically and vulnerably.&nbsp; I haven\u2019t been able to crank out <b style=\"color:white;background-color:#886800\">3<\/b> or 4 <b style=\"color:black;background-color:#ff9999\">blog<\/b> posts a week because there are other things going on in my life, and I simply wasn\u2019t feeling it.&nbsp; I don\u2019t fake it when I <b style=\"color:black;background-color:#ff9999\">blog<\/b>. But I love my clients and always go back to wanting to tell their story.<\/p>\n<p>So here I am tonight with not a single shoot left before I leave for Paris on Friday.&nbsp; And while I should be watching the season finale of mad men with Jesse, I\u2019m suddenly stoked to <b style=\"color:black;background-color:#ff9999\">blog<\/b> Katie and Christian\u2019s wedding from September 12th.&nbsp;&nbsp; The two of them were on my mind and I was inspired.&nbsp; I selected these images below because I personally like them\u2014not because they are perfect <b style=\"color:black;background-color:#ff9999\">blog<\/b> material, or good for my business, but because they somehow represent the way I see Katie and Christian and their relationship, or because they conjure up some other&nbsp; unexplainable feeling\u2026&nbsp; enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>Katie and Christian had two weddings, two receptions, two locations and are two of the coolest people I know.&nbsp; They are both sweet through and through\u2013 in fact Katie and Christian met at a Denver volunteer program (they are philanthropic, too).&nbsp; These first images below are from Katie and Christian\u2019s catholic ceremony in Littleton with only family and close friends present.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2866\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-00301.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2867\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-0022.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><\/p>\n<p>The look on Katie\u2019s father\u2019s face is why this is now one of my favorite wedding images that I\u2019ve ever taken.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2869\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-0029.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><\/p>\n<p>Videographers don\u2019t get enough press\u2026.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2873\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-0577.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2870\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-0038.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2871\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-0493.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><\/p>\n<p>I seriously work like paprazzi, and love it when hiding in the tress, still manage to get a glance from one of my subjects.&nbsp; That\u2019s why I love this image.&nbsp; It feels pure paprazzi.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2874\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-1159.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>Part 2: <\/strong> Katie and Christian had a super fun, larger wedding in Leadville at the Opera House the day after the wedding in Littleton. It was my first time photographing in Leadville\u2014and&nbsp; hopefully not the last.&nbsp; What a quirky, crazy little mining town it is\u2026.&nbsp; wonderfully strange.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2875\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-1491.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2876\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-1675.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"532\" height=\"800\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2877\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-1797.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><\/p>\n<p>This is an image taken of Katie\u2019s cousin, Maddie crossing one of the little streets in Leadville.&nbsp; I love it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2878\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-1816.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"532\" height=\"800\"><\/p>\n<p>Katie and the ladies hung out in the giftshop\/museum&nbsp; of the Opera House before the ceremony.&nbsp; What a wonderful settting for interesting portraits.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2880\" src=\"https:\/\/julieharrisphotography.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Katie-and-Christian-2047.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"935\" height=\"622\"><\/p>\n<p>The entire ceremony was set like a play on the old stage at the Opera House\u2026&nbsp; Obviously it\u2019s a great \u201chappily ever after\u201d photo of&nbsp; Katie and Christian, but it\u2019s also an image that reminds me that gas is down from $4.50 a gallon last year, to $2.52.&nbsp;
