Manjari and Sameer’s wedding

About a month ago I photographed Manjari and Sameer’s engagement photos. I loved the way they turned out because the colors were so vibrant…
If color is what I was looking for, then Manjari and Sameer’s wedding was their engagement shoot on crack! I was in a constant, color saturated alpha state! And of course, beyond the beautiful colors, I got to work with this beautiful couple again! Manjari took by breath away!
These two are such sweethearts and I loved being a part of this very important day. I learned a lot about Indian traditions and ceremonies—for example, the ceremony is 2 hours long and people are free to get up, walk around and drink punch. I also learned how important family is, which really tugged at my heart strings. I guess I have to say that Manjari and Sameer, and Manjari and Sameer’s wedding has been one of the highlights of my year thus far….
Indian women don’t go light on jewelry for their wedding ceremonies! I was in love with these bracelets—it made me want to play dress up again, and like a little girl, I was just staring at Manjari like she was a princess…
Classic moment of manjari’s first glimpse of her adorned daughter…
Sameer looked like a regal prince—it was strange for me to remember that his favorite band, like mine is Radiohead!
Simply stunning bride…..
The Rauchways: A shoot for father’s day
I am in love with this family…. I have been working with Cleo and Jon since their wedding on New Year’s Eve back in 2003/2004 and have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to photograph their family as they “grow”. Teddy is now 2, and Rosie, just three months. Cleo called me a couple weeks ago and asked me to get some images of her little one, and some of the two of them together as a surprise for Jon for Father’s day (hopefully, he doesn’t read my blog)! I am so pleased with these images—-I already ordered an 18×24 gallery wrap of the last one for my studio. It actually brought tears to my eyes.
Ashley and Nate (and Emmett of course)!
All I can say, is that I can’t wait to photograph Ashley and Nate’s wedding next October…. They are a riot! And it sounds like all their friends are too…. My question is, will Emmett be in the wedding party? I might as well have named this post “Emmett (and Ashley and Nate of course)”. They are totally in love with their dog, who I might add, is very lovable. It was adorable to see them play with each other –all three of them! They are a fun-loving bunch and they really showed me a good time on Sunday! Thanks you guys–you’re two cool cats (and a dog).
Ashley and Nate have this game they play with Emmett called an “Emmett sandwich”. They love it… but I’m not so sure about Emmett!
…Here he is–the apple of their eyes. Speaking of eyes, doesn’t Emmett look as though he has human eyes? Unbelievably cool!
Kelly and Aaron are engaged!
Kelly and Aaron are sweethearts! They really took one for the team with these engagement pics! First, we had to reschedule our original shoot as it was pouring rain on memorial day, and when we did reschedule, Kelly sat on a cactus, and I made them hike all over the place! I thought it was worth it (but I’m not the one with prickers in my butt or sore feet)!
Hope you guys had as much fun taking these pictures, as you look like you did in the images…! Thanks for being so cool!
As much as we would have loved a sunny evening, these green ominous clouds were even better! I love the moodiness of this image.
Kelly and Aaron both have the most amazing eyes! I really got up close on this one with my 50mm to capture them… Hmmmmm I wonder when they have kids if they will have Kelly’s chocolate brown eyes or those clear blue water eyes of Aaron’s….
The Amsbaughs (Sean, Lisa, Alexander and Michael)
What a lovely family! These four were so easy to work with—maybe it was being at the park, but they all seemed to genuinely enjoy the session (which is, of course my goal)! Alex and Michael are twins, and so completely different in their nature. Alex was the ham. Michael was a little more cautious, but was so honest… I loved that about him. When we were almost finished with the shoot. He stood up and said, “I’m done.” And so we were. I wasn’t about to pull any teeth and spoil our great evening at Wash park.

Meet Michael
…and Alexander
This was by far, my favorite shot of the day. The light was gorgeous and I love Michael’s candid expression.
I don’t normally post this sort of shot, but the light was perfect, and the family seemed to love to “canoodle”, so… I posted it! But take note, this is about as traditional as I get! 🙂
Rachel and Brandon
You know it’s going to be a good wedding when there is a cocktail hour before and after the ceremony! This wedding was quite the party…. as it should have been! Rachel and Brandon said their vows and were married in front of their friends and family at the cable center last Saturday. And although technically, already married there was something that really “sealed the deal” for Rachel and Brandon when they proclaimed their love for another and made promises in the presence of their loved ones.
…. and then there was the party! Wow! A party, it was— 4 DJ’s (including Brandon), video art, lots of dancing, and the most gorgeous decor including the beautiful ambient pink light that set the mood of the evening. It was one of the most unique weddings I’ve ever had the opportunity to photograph…
Rachel and Brandon walked themselves down the aisle and through the middle of the first cocktail hour…
It was a dramatic entrance—everybody started clapping. I’ve never heard this at a ceremony before, but it gave me (and probably everybody else) goosebumps!
I’m not sure what I said exactly that prompted this image, but Rachel and Brandon really hate getting their photos taken. They were uncomfortable with “posing”, so I think I said something like “smile your biggest ‘just married’ smile—this image will be for your mothers.”…. This is what I got, and I love it! It’s so Rachel and Brandon!
And then there is this incredible moment between Rachel and her mother that I love. There seems to be a silent and sweet connection between the bride and her mother on a wedding day. I’m always looking for moments like these, because they are so authentic…. I just love the tenderness here.
The cable center has the best light of about all the venues in Denver. I love playing with focus when I have all this incredible back light!
Rachel and Brandon had these really cool pink ambient lights that made everything glow. They set up lounge furniture on the top floor— and that with the light made everything so romantic. I grabbed this shot of a couple having an intimate moment.
…another sweet moment between a mother and daughter.
What a stud! Brandon was the last to spin…. When I leaned in for this shot, he leaned right back and gave me this image.
