It’s here! Introducing the new Julie Harris Portrait site!
I have been working on this site for seriously 3 months—sizing all the images, picking the perfect music, editing in work, editing out work… but I finally launced last week and Julie Harris Portraits is here! Check it out, y’all! www.julieharrisportraits.com
I also need some advice…. Is it appropriate to put my boudoir work next to my other portrait galleries? I am so laid back about these things, but I know that there may be people out there who could be offended by some nudity…. thoughts? My way of thinking, is if you don’t want to see naked women, don’t click on the the naked women, but maybe that’s naive. I may start yet another site called Julie Harris Edge with all the nudes and my fine art, but I don’t think I can manage the work until the end of the busy wedding season. I would love any input from my loyal blog stalkers out there….
Wow, you managed to create a unbelievable mood and feeling by using the right pictures and the right music, again. Anytime I visit any of your sites, it just makes me want to go get my camera. I think you should leave it how it is. Your a photographer, and boudoir is part of what you do. The target audience your after will most likely not be offended, but only inspired. Just my two cents…… Looking forward to working with you, its been a while.
Hi, Julie! I think you can totally leave it as is. As you said, “…if you don’t want to see naked women, don’t click on the naked women…”
I see no problem keeping the boudoir gallery on your portrait site. You have a tasteful icon leading to that gallery…not like you’re putting those photos in everyone’s faces. It’s just another extension of your portrait services…I think they rock!
Love it! I’m with you on the boudoir issue (because I think people know what boudoir photography is, and they should know what they’re getting into), but on the other hand, I can’t help feeling like it may go beyond the issue of the images themselves. It may very well offend a portion of your potential customers, rightly or wrongly, and I guess I’d wonder if it’s worth it in the end. I can’t imagine there’s nearly enough demand in that market to warrant the risk. Maybe a happy medium is deciding that, setting aside artistic considerations for the moment, the work samples should be sexy but not involve nudity. It might mean giving up presenting some of your favorite work, but removing the nudity would perhaps give reassurance to the folks uncomfortable with a photographer of nudes taking photos of their kids. I think this would be a much bigger problem for a male photographer, but maybe that’s just me. Anyway, great going! I join in the chorus of those who are inspired by your work, to the nth degree.
