In praise of myself… a desperate ploy to get more blog
I’ve been doing a bit of blog stalking lately, and have noticed that there are certain “it” things to do in order to be a photographer who gets a lot of “blog love”. Apparently, it’s really hot to post images of yourself all over every other post. Or to simply create posts about oneself in general.
My blog traffic has seemed slow and my comments are tragic. So I thought I’d bite the dust and keep up with the industry standards.
If you leave a comment and inflate my ego, maybe I’ll lead a workshop! And by the way, I’m now selling Julie Harris Photography mouse pads, earmuffs, koozies, t-shirts and Christmas mugs with my face and/or logo on them, if you’re interested….
These aren’t actually my earmuffs but are a product from my friend’s nail salon, Tootsies. However, I did do all of their promotional photos. I’d link to my blog so you can see them in all their glory, but wouldn’t you rather look at me??
I so rock and roll! I might patent this “sign” as the official “Julie Harris Photography” gang sign.
But of course I wouldn’t support gang signery…. I am all about sharing the love and peace, yo! (and if you sign up for one of my upcoming seminars, I’ll also share my secrets).
The talented feet of Julie Harris Photography.
I’m currently working on a T.V. commercial where I will entice you to call to me….
I have to say that I don’t do all this alone…. there is the man behind the woman in this grand enterprise. Meet Jesse Chatham ( my husband) of photographik. photographik is the industry’s standard when it comes to “elite” wedding and portrait directories. It’s pretty much the coolest thing since, Vanilla Silk Soymilk.
J-Dawg is in the hizzy!
It’s not that we think we are cool—we just are. Everybody wants a piece of this!
Wow, shameless self-promotion is exhausting!
Okay, so your self-portraits are what everyone else THINKS they have on MySpace, even though yours are far more amazing than theirs could ever be.
And as for your second photo, I’d probably make the same face if I were surrounded in fur like that.
You forgot to mention when the workshop dates are. Let me know and I’ll be there. 😉
Well this is an official “FIRST”. I just think its funny that you keep Soy milk stocked in your Fridge, and that Jesse looks soooo comfortable in Fur. You two look like you had a blast!
So glad we finally got to meet yesterday! Can’t wait for some photos…you rock!
Don’t you know that I moonlight on the weekends as a PIMP, Gino?! 🙂
Hilarious.
These are off the hook, or is that chain? You could twitter, facebook, or myspace fer shizz. Still need some love? Now this is for real: Damn, everything you post is amazing! The post is really funny – and you still have absolutely rockin’ pics. That’s talent baby – no doubt.
A lot of bloggers do have a lot of personal photos, I think it really makes a connection to your audience, I think at heart most people are pretty nosy. I have been following your blog for a little bit over a year now and this post is really great, because it’s like seeing the making of on a DVD I guess that is a bit random, but my point is it makes a strong connection. I definitely would like to come to your seminar, but it is probably too far away from me because I am in California, but if there is any other way I could get the information I would be totally honored. You can e-mail me at [email protected] or call me at (760) 780-6896
I’m going to Gold’s Gym a lot more before I start posting that many photos of myself.
Really cute blog post, Julie.
I WANNA MUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
i love you guys and this should be a regular feature on your blog
love love love
Now I have to run out and buy some ear muffs, a furr coat and soy milk just to try and keep up. And if you have any of those mouse pads left……! Seriously though, I would be interested in a workshop. So if you have a (e)mailing list I would appreciate a heads up.
I’m another Colorado photographer and have to say you’re one of my fav in the state! I just moved here a few months ago. Figured I’d comment, great post. Haha. And I’d come to a workshop!
Bravo what fun! You are 2 of my most favorite people in the entire universe and beyond!! very refreshing lots of smiles…who is the Russian………………just kidding
blog love
and much more
haha, this looks like things that my husband and I do after a lil too much whiskey and Tom Waits, so much fun! I am one of your regular blog stalkers and more recently a commenter. You are so cool!
My sides hurt after eating nothing but football food all day then see you two! Seriously told ya the workshop would be a hit! Who wouldn’t want to do crazy shit like that! Hilarious Julie!
I laughed! nice.
I know what you mean about the blog love… this seemed to work for you, so maybe I will try it too, Lol… Cute pics though!
That was about the coolest post I have ever seen… not joking.
not even joking again, my verification word for the previous comment was “titted”…I have no clue what that word is.
Just. So. Funny. From the looks of it, your ploy worked. It’s a virtual hornet’s nest of commentaciousness. I did notice that as I’ve started posting more images on my blog, the number of comments has declined. I wonder if the simple posting of images is too passive. Controversial ideas help drive traffic and comments. So, next, try more religion and politics. OR…how about more “how to” information about your images. (Yes, I’m still talking about it a year later.) People love being able to express their two cents, to ask questions. And, I gotta say, they’re more likely to sign up for a seminar (if you were serious), if they get a little taste not only of the work itself, but of how the work was got. My two cents! I’m probably one of your readers that comments TOO much, so my input may not have much relevance…
OMG, LOLOLOLOLOLOL!
Made me laugh and smile and it looks like it was fun to do. I think you two just need to keep having fun like this. You might include those photogenic critters of yours sometime!
David
Great pictures
You certifiably F’en ROCK! This is smart business practice. As one of your regular ‘Blog Stalkers’ (as I would be called).. this is the connection that I think everyone craves. You’re no longer just a girl behind the lens.. you have opened up your ‘doors’ and invited us (me) in. I now know you.. even though I don’t know you (got me?). Oh, and you two are seriously owning that TechniColor Dreamcoat (Seinfeld). LOL!!!!!!!
Oh, and about that seminar.. are you kidding me??!!! When and where??????
I love the blog! Too bad i watched it by myself and probably looked like a fool as I laughed to myself..wow its great. lol
You guys are a couple of goof balls! But I think you are a really really good photographer.
Cheers
