Shannon and Monti

These images are supposed to be reminiscent of the cover of Bob Dylan’s album, Freewheelin’. Monti is a huge fan, and wanted the same nostalgia that came through on that album cover, to come through in his engagement pictures. I put my best forth forward in 18 degree weather in Boulder, to portray Shannon and Monti’s love in this timeless way. What I loved about them throughout the shoot is that they really do share a love that is almost dreamy and from another lifetime. Watching them together is like watching an old 1940′s romance. One’s hope in true love seems restored.

The National Western Stock show and Rodeo

Every year around mid-January, excitement stirs when I start to see the stock show parking signs on I-25. I don’t know what it is about this annual event, but I love it! The National Western Stock show is a smorgasbord of “Americana”. There is everything to be found at here, from cowboy boots to funnel cakes. And of course there are all the adorable animals. But for me it’s the people watching that I love the most, and this year I brought my camera. So if you’re like Jesse, and have an allergy attack just nearing the stables, or if you just can’t handle the skirt-chasing, Coors drinking cowboy culture, then hopefully you can live vicariously through these images and take a trip down a genre of true Americana….

Join us for a photographic scavenger hunt for all things red, white and blue. All scavenger hunts will be led by Julie Harris Photography staff members. cameras will be provided during the event. Simply bring your children and your sense of adventure!

This is my first attempt at a “First Friday” for Kids, and I’m hoping to get a killer turn out, so that I can keep planning these events in effort to get kids excited about photography as an art form. Jan and Rob are expecting!

It was such an honor to get a call from Jan a few months ago asking me if I would do some maternity portraits of her and her husband Rob. Jan used to assist me at weddings a few years ago, and I was moved that after two years, she would still choose me to photograph such an intimate and amazing time in her life. Jan and Rob are so sweet and were quite bashful in front of the camera—- I love the emotion and excitement that they were able to convey through the images. I can’t wait to meet the little one—I wonder if he/she will have dimples like Jan!

Dawn and Ted at the Wildlife Experience

Dawn and Ted were incredible to work with—super laid back, fun-loving and classy. They held their wedding at the Wildlife Experience out in Centennial—and the entire event was eye candy! The colors, the toys, the art, and of course Dawn’s hot shoes and bird cage veil kept me shutter happy for hours! I generally know when it is time to go home, but I completely lost track of time at this wedding and gave them an extra hour for free! To top things off, both Ted and Dawn are artists, so they let me run wild with creativity. Dawn is an talented hairstylist and Ted is a fellow photographer!

Forget the blushing bride and give me some tears, and I’ll be a happy photographer! Dawn lost it just rounding the bend with her father!

…and kept them flowing through most of the ceremony. She is such a sweetheart!

We shot some of the wedding party photos in what is probably Colorado’s largest elevator!

I don’t know much about Nintendo, or Xbox, or whatever the latest video game technology is, but I thought it was pretty cute that Dawn and Ted set up guitar video games for their guests (and obviously for themselves as well).

…. I don’t know, Ted. You’re looking pretty devious!

Dawn has four nieces and one nephew who were all a part of the wedding. They were seriously the best behaved children I have worked with at a wedding—maybe ever. But, it was a long day for them!

I love this image of Dawn’s older sister watching Dawn, her father, and her daughter all dancing together…. so sweet!

Breakfast at Tiffany’s (or Tootsies)

This little lady may look familiar to you from an earlier shoot I did with Rebelle salon last August ( “Let them eat cake!”). Jill Mercer has become the face of both Rebelle by Tootsies as well as Tootsies nail shoppe—two great salons owned by Roxy and Castle Searcy. I can’t tell you how much I’ve loved working with these dollies on these campaigns—It’s been an honor and a riot! We went with an Audrey Hepburn theme for Tootsies, but of course had to throw in some “rock and roll” as well….

If you haven’t had a good pedicure in a while, drop on in to Tootsies salon on Old South Gaylord, or Tennyson St. You won’t be disappointed with the immaculately clean foot tubs and the impeccable service! (Ask for Kent if you’re at the Gaylord location).

Introducing Baby Nola!

I know I’m supposed to keep these things vaulted, but Nola is my favorite girl name in the world…. I guess I’m going to have to change that now, not because I can’t have a child with the same name as somebody else, but because little Nola Greenwald is so gorgeous and perfect that my poor little girl would have a lot to live up to! And of course she is beautiful—look at Ashley and Matt! Let me also mention that Nola is the sweetest thing, too? She coos and smiles and reaches out her little hand to be held. I’m sure that as with any baby, there are times that aren’t as easy others, but Nola put on a good show for me and appeared to be an angel. Congratulations, Ashley and Matt!
